A new image has surfaced, showing an iMac screen with an Apple logo on its "chin," suggesting that Apple scrapped the design at some point in the process.
2021 ushered in a big redesign for Apple's iMac. Powered by Apple's M1 chip, the New iMac was thinner and objectively more colorful than its Intel-based predecessor.
It also lacked something the previous iMac had — a large Apple logo on its "chin," — the space directly below the display. However, there's a chance that Apple may have considered incorporating that element — at least until it didn't.

A leaker named Kosutami_Ito has shared an image on X, stating that the company had tested a prototype of the iMac with that logo. At some point in production, the company seemingly decided to change course.
While it's hard to tell if the image shows legitimate iMac screens or third-party replacements, the statement isn't exactly earth-shattering. It wouldn't be particularly unusual to discover that Apple had a few iterations of what it wanted the screen to look like before the design was finalized.
Kosutami_Ito often posts prototypes which appear authentic, but are hard to confirm the provenance. They also periodically try other leaks, but with a mixed track record on those.
